Day V: Bangkok, Thailand
Day V: Bangkok, Thailand
We booked our Bus Tickets from Golden Fish Pension House in Siem Reap, Cambodia for ($13) and pick up time was 2 AM. Before leaving, the conductor checked our receipts and each of the passengers were given stickers (squared red sticker)and he attached it near my chest. (Color Coding?). Off we go!
By 6 AM, we arrived at Poipet, Cambodia ,alighted the bus
and advised us to get all our baggage since we will change bus at
Aranyaprathet, Thailand (a few walk from Cambodian Border).
By 6.30 AM, Exited Cambodia,” Angkuun Charran” (Thank You!)
…Ooops mind the long lines at Poipet Immigration.
A few walk from Poipet, you will see a lot of Casinos ,be
alert all the time with this area, (One of the busiest and not so safe borders), I read from a
blog and watched from Sandra Aguinaldo’s trip that there are a lot of touts, fixers
doing illegal stuffs. Just walk and follow the flow of your fellow
tourists/backpackers.Next thing i know I'm already at the Thai Immigration Office.
By 7 AM, Entered Aranyaprathet, Thailand “Sawasdee ”… No
need to worry, the group will wait for each of the passengers to finish
Immigration and the conductor did a head count and off we go. (That’s the use
of the Color Coded Stickers .Very safe and systematic!) As I mentioned earlier,
we will change bus, we were divided into two groups the others are going to
Pattaya and us going to Bangkok. (Van Ride)
Not far from the Aranyaprathet Border, there was a check point
and we were asked by this Officer in his language, of course, we didn’t
understand what he is saying. Then he said “ From what Nation are you?” We
replied” Philippines” (Ooops do we look like Cambodians?, Entered Illegally?
Hehehe) (Other Passengers are Japanese,Brasilians, and Americans maybe that’s
why?)
By 12- 1PM, we arrived in Bangkok and dropped us off at Khao
San Rd (Backpackers Area). Since it was lunch time, we ate at KFC and changed
our Dollars to Baht, and looked for cheapest yet decent place to stay.
By 1-3 PM ,Checked in at Four Sons Place (1,3,5 Trok Mayom,
near Khao San Rd, Bangkok).Rest for a While. Freshen Up. Check their website
here.

We were fascinated with Wat Pho, photo session and time
flies so fast it was around 4-5pm already so we decided to continue our Temple
tour by tomorrow and we back to Khao San Rd by a Tuktuk Ride.
*Actually
you can also ride a Tuktuk going to Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew and Grand Palace
from Khao San Rd but BTB advised us that it is much cheaper to ride the Chao
Praya Express Boat.
*Warning:
Beware of Taxi or tuktuk drivers offering ride to discount jewelry stores or
entertainment venues. You may risk buying fake goods or other forms of
deceptions. Firmly decline when approached and report any such incidents to the
Thai Tourist Police Telephone number 1155. (Source: Bangkok Tourist Bureau Map)
Back to Khao San Rd, Booked our Half Day Floating Market
